[the bad news is that he dressed like he always does. the good news is that the way he always dresses is pretty nice anyway, and Euri is likely to get more than a few jealous glares as they go through the city.

he shows up a little before noon (but not nearly as early as Euri), trying to steer himself away from the idea of inevitable doom and focus on how he might have fun. or something.

either way, he's at least greeted by a pretty good-looking girl waiting for him.]

[She's grabbing her purse and jumping to her feet. Okay Euri, this won't be too hard! He's impressed so far!]

Ready to go?

Sure. [he nods, walking up to her properly.]

We just have to figure out that tram, right?

[Heading for the door, then!]

That's that metal thing outside, right? That looks kind of like a mine cart with a top....

Like a train, yeah. [he follows her closely. at least there's definitely going to be adventure involved.]

[It won't take too long to make the trip from the tower over to the little station where the tram is sitting.]

... What's that?

...What, a train? [HE'S PAYING ATTENTION, REALLY... just not sure... if they get on, or if they pay first, or...]

Uh huh. [She's glancing around and spying a little placard that has pictogram instructions. Useful!]

Hmm....

[...insert money. get ticket. well, okay. that seems easy enough.]

Guess that explains what these are for, huh...

[momentary looking through that ring of money and inserting the right amount]

A train's like one of these things, but much bigger... It runs on a track, usually pulls a ton of carts behind it.

[Digging around in her purse for the amount, too.]

How big?

Depends on the engine, but... maybe... four times this size? And longer--trains could stretch on for miles.

[hey, success! oh, technology. how he missed you.]

[Paying and getting her ticket, though her attention is now on Robin.]

Miles?? Really??

Yeah. They were something else.

[he'll approach the tram, but make sure she's behind him.]

[She's quickly following and putting her ticker in the little ticket slot.]

That's crazy! What do they use those for?

All sorts of stuff. [they have something sort of like trams back on his world, still, so he seems pretty comfortable finding a seat and gesturing her over to come sit next to them. C:]

Largely they transported goods like food, furniture, books... But they were used for things like mail and transporting people, too. When you had that many cars, you could move a lot of different things pretty far.

Wow....

[She will! And she's immediately looking around curiously. This is a new thing for her.]

I can't imagine any of the cities back home needing to move that much of... anything.

Mm. This is back when cities were huge...

[he will casually... put his arm around her shoulder. C:]

They aren't around anymore, but we still have a little thing like this. It's a help.

[Oh snap. Euri's eyes dart over to him, then she shifts a bit closer as the tram pulls away from the station.]

We don't even have these kinds in the bigger towns. I'm... not sure about the cities, though. I've only ever been to one.

Are there... lots of cities where you're from? [he looks thoughtful for a moment.] I always sort of assume it's like my world, but I might be completely wrong.

There's seven. [She'll start counting them off on her fingers.]

Fundi, Metaphor, Perpetia, Kyrie, Mactech, Volume and Ashvara. Aside from Kyrie and Perpetia, and Mactech and Volume the cities are pretty isolated from each other.

[--wait hold up.] There's a city named "Metaphor"?

..... Yeah. Why?

[Looking out the windows. Oh man, so much water.]

That just... seems like a strange name for a city.

[...says the guy who came from "Skeleton City". he'll look out the windows as she does, though, trying to get a view of the mainland.]

[Yeah really c: Euri just shrugs.]

It's the Witch capital, so it's really old.

[And now that she's actually said 'Witch' she feels the need to change the subject.]

Is this really the ocean?

[shrugging as well.]

It's got waves and a tide, so... I guess so.
