"Only one??" Chauntecleer sounds... baffled, of all things. But then, chickens aren't humans. Can chickens even be monogamous? Of course, before he can start getting critical Renart snaps and growls at him to be quiet. That's followed up by a tail wag as she glances over at Raylan. Look, she's helping!

[She hadn't turned them down when they recruited her. She didn't have much of an opinion one way or another, even though these people are dealing with the living instead of the already dead. But what is a Black Shooter if not a doll to be used for the agenda of others? Rock had listened compliantly and said little (nothing, actually), which they had taken for agreement.

The planet doesn't surprise her that much. There isn't any familiarity to it, but she's used to that from the phantasmic worlds stagnant souls create for themselves. Urban cities, small European towns, jungles - this is just another in a long line of curious places that need to be dealt with before she can move on to the next.

There is something that's begun to nag at her, though. Curiosity. It might just be from the fish raining down from the sky. It could also be the result of being thrown into such a bizarre situation, no Ron to guide her (just a nonsentient weapon to resemble him, looking like a huge black metallic snake currently coiled around her upper arm), no stagnant souls to purify, only the orders from these new people to follow.

She isn't sure, as she passively watches the fish from underneath a giant spire.]

[Before you lies a picturesque kingdom of forests and fields and farmlands. Mountains rise up in the distance, and set at the edge of a massive lake is an elegant castle with tall spires. It looks out over the land - forests surrounding the lake, a small but pleasant medieval town pushed up against the castle walls, farmer's fields further out.

The land itself is fertile and full of wild game, unsual plants, and natural wonders like crystalline caverns and waterfalls. Rivers of all sizes wind their way down from the mountains, which alternate between covered in fir trees and bare, jagged rock with mazes of caves hidden within.

[It's been a grand total of two hours, and Euri is ready to go home.

Home of course being a comfortable apartment in the Upper West Side, near Central Park. Sure, with her mother touring so much it was often only her, but it had nice views and she didn't have to share it with anyone. Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters might be larger than her previous private school, but the latter was smaller and girls only and she never had to deal with roommates and living on campus.

It's all strange and uncomfortable and she'd much rather find somewhere quiet where she can be alone. But no, one of the teachers (she doesn't bother remembering her name, she doesn't want to remember her name) is coming by after she's unpacked to let her know that one of the students will show her around the campus. It's a nice gesture but Euri can't help the sullen expression on her features as she follows her down to a very familiar door.

Apparently someone had seen the two of them talking when she first arrived, and decided it might be good for both her and Pyro to spend a little more time together. Euri isn't sure she believes that, though she remains silent as Professor Ororo Munroe explains the situation to Pyro, not giving him the option to say no.

And when all that's said and done it's the two of them left alone to explore the campus.]

So....

I guess we should get started, huh? [She couldn't sound more unenthused.] Where do you want to go first?

[The experiment was a perfect success! Except, no. Not at all really.

Arro looked at the latest results of opening a rend in the dimensions, and arguably this was stranger still than his own wanderings to an fro; he hadn't quite realized that it opened an actual doorway--back and forth travel. He was under the impression he'd been opening one-way holes that only would allow him to go through.

Which brought him to the girl. Cute, which was perfectly acceptable. He knelt, looking her over carefully. Undeniably curious if the rend had done this, or if she tripped into the doorway, he looked her over from head to toe. Regardless, he sighed softly; it would be quite a bit before he could open another. Still, might as well see if she understands the Low Speech or if he'll have to try Common instead.

[So whatever your character was doing they are most certainly not doing it anymore, because they're suddenly finding themselves surrounding by massive moss-covered cedars and... giant mushrooms? A closer look reveals that those giant mushrooms are very real, making this whole place look like some kind of bizarro rainforest with an Alice in Wonderland twist. There are plenty of other unusual plants - ones that curl up immediately upon being touched, flowers that give off an eerie iridescent glow. The sounds of insects and chittering mammals pervade the humid, foggy air, and overhead the cawing of crows can be heard. It's beautiful and just a tiny bit unnerving.

In a nearby clearing a little white-haired girl in a blue dress (is that a pointy witch hat on the ground nearby?) is playing with a little black dog. She's throwing a stick and he's disappearing among the moss and oversized roots, and returning it with a startling quickness.

WHAT DO.]

[So after over six months, Euri finally went home. It was only temporary, of course, but it was nice to finally be back in Minoa. So once she was hauled back to Asgard (apparently in Asgard time she was only gone one night) there were unmistakable pangs of homesickness.

Though having her original powers back certainly helped things. It was shocking to find those still in place and not her horrible energy transfer, but not an unwelcome surprise. In fact, after going home it feels even better with her new magical abilities. After playing around a bit to make sure they aren't going anywhere Euri decides to head out onto the streets.

As a (half) Witch with full powers in a city full of humans, she has the overwhelming urge to start pranking people. Not a particularly pleasant use for them, but that's how Witches roll. She'll be wandering around, trying to not look too excited as she searches for some poor sucker to mess with.]

[Euri huffs.

She's been hanging around the botanical gardens all day, mostly just sitting and thinking but occasionally fussing with a few plants when she thinks no one is looking. It isn't her favourite hobby but damnit if she isn't feeling some kind of weird nature-withdrawal. Sadly, even though it pisses her off it does make a lot of sense. She spent her whole childhood growing up in a mushroom surrounded by rainforest, and even when she was bounty hunting she and Dog spent most of their time wandering through the mountainous forests. The human towns they did go to were tiny, so they were never that far from nature.

In comparison this city is a gross ugly slab of human-made rock. Even the botanical gardens seems a little manicured for her tastes, but it's the best she's found here and it's at least keeping her from going completely crazy.

Crouching down in front of some flowers, she sighs as she thumbs at a dark leaf. If Dog was here he'd know whose ass to kick or where she should go or what she should do. But he isn't, and being on her own just makes her feel... useless. Stupid and helpless and useless. There isn't even another Witch around she could get advice from! God, she'd tolerate constant, daily mocking if it meant another Witch being here.]

Ugh!

[Euri stands abruptly, looking around for something appropriate to kick. There are a few decorative rocks, and there's all this glass around....]

This is stupid! [No, that would be dangerous. She'll have to settle for yelling at nothing in particular, even though it's completely unsatisfying.]

[This is stupid this is stupid this is stupid.

That's the mantra running through Euri's head as the western ocean comes into sight. This is stupid and dangerous and a plant isn't worth the trouble of getting this close to so much water, even if the tide is out.

... But damnit! If those rumours are true all she has to do is grab one or two plants. Then she can take them home and grow them herself and given how they're rare to the point of mythical she'll be rich.

Euri makes her way down the hill, swallowing thickly as the full ocean comes into view. It's a lot bigger than she imagined, and she tries to focus on the shallows directly in front of her. All she has to do is wade out to that little island - only a few miles - and then she'll be fine.

It takes her about an extra ten minutes to reach the edge of the water, and when she does she holds her breath for a few moments. But nothing happen, so she removes her shoes and stockings and ties the hem of her dress up high so it won't get wet. The feeling of warm water hitting her toes makes her squeak, but a few seconds later she's plowing into it and starting for the island.]

[Now Euri had very specific opinions on Folkvang. Namely, even though it sounded like a fun place to spend an evening, so avoided it like the plague. It was due to her albinism, of course; she was too self-conscious to visit a place that focused on beauty and the body. But she's been curious ever since she heard about it, and since that was when she first arrived that curiosity has had months to gnaw at her.

Eventually it got to be too much and she had to check the place out. But there was no way she was going alone, which is why she's dragging Vanitas along! He isn't exactly the same as a female friend, but she's more comfortable getting nervous around him.

Fortunately, she doesn't feel too nervous right now. They're in the hotsprings area, the coed section because it would be a pain to have to yell back and forth. And lucky for her, aside from them the place is completely empty. She still has a towel wrapped tightly around herself and every so often she eyes the water suspiciously (even if this is manmade there could be mermaids), but aside from that she's actually enjoying the warm water. She might even start relaxing at this rate.]

This is pretty nice, huh?

[It's always amazing to hear when someone doesn't have a lot of experience with romance. Not that Euri does herself, but she was appalled to hear Cheriour was basically clueless when it came to the subject. Everyone should at least have an understanding of it! So she's taken it upon herself instruct him in how to properly romance a lady, even if he'll probably never use the information.

She's knocking on his door, bag in hand.]

[Euri isn't entirely sure what happened. One moment she was out in the forest, gathering some herbs for another batch of potions for her mother. She had managed to climb up one of the smaller giant mushrooms in other to gather some rare hanging dragon's breath, when everything suddenly changed. That mushroom changed into a metal street light, and all the trees had become huge, ugly brick buildings. From green to... greys and browns.

With a squeak of surprise she lets go of the street light, landing very unceremoniously onto the sidewalk and the contents of her basket ending up scattered all over. The only not completely terrible thing about her change in situations is that it's late evening and the street looks empty, so it seems no one saw any of that.

Several choice swears later Euri is pushing herself to her feet, glancing about thoroughly confused. What the fuck? She stays a deer in headlights for several minutes before she decides to do the first thing that comes to mind, and that is awkwardly moving to gather up her basket and its spilled contents.]

[Another day, another body at his feet.]

[Cheriour sniffed, getting the splattered blood off his cheek with a one quick rub of his finger. Today was a good day. This particular woman had been poisoning her lovers to steal their prized possessions once they were dead, and now she wouldn't be stealing things any longer.]

[The angel stared down at her flowing black hair mixing with the bright puddle spreading to his feet, and stepped backwards to avoid it. Really, this place was just like home- there were always people to watch, people to protect. Of course, it was lonely, but a job was a job.]

[He'll take a few moments to wipe off his sword before turning to leave.]

[Tomorrow was another day, and tomorrow was another body, after all.]

Did you want another one?

[ It's probably the fourth time Kaz's asked Euri this since they arrived at the bar, and he's half-hoping it'll be the last since it's a bit rough on his wallet, but half-hoping it won't be because this Witch? Was way more amusing after a couple of drinks.

She'd been the one to insist on meeting him for...whatever reason. He honestly wasn't paying attention at the time and he really didn't care, but refusing could have meant Venom hunting him down so he'd agreed and listened half-heartedly to whatever she'd been saying. And when she started to notice his disinterest he very quickly tried to apologize by buying her a drink. And then another, and another and another--now it didn't matter what she was trying to tell him, it was funny as hell.

He'd ordered nothing but water and juice for himself out of necessity; he wasn't human enough to be able to tolerate alcohol of any kind in his system and Arachen weren't...exactly meant to ingest it. But she didn't seem to have noticed that just yet, and hopefully wouldn't if he kept buying her drinks. ]

[It's shopping day!

Which is sadly, a far more somber affair than it should be. Euri has the entirety of her bounty hunting money, plus whatever she and Dog had left from the cash that was given to them by the tower. She's planning on spending every last cent of it on survival gear. They've been in a few stores already and Euri has a large paper bag filled with things she thinks she'll need out in the mountains, but she's far from finished.

Dog is following behind her, looking like a fairly typical dog aside from his eyes. He looks a little bored, and occasionally strays away from her to sniff at something. Unfortunately, shopping isn't exactly the most entertaining thing for a dog.

Euri pauses in a storefront, squinting at the display for a few moments before turning and heading inside. Dog doesn't follow her in - instead he just flops lazily onto the ground outside the entrance.]

[Euri is down in the lobby, fidgeting nervously while waiting on one of the couches. She's been sitting there for fifteen minutes already, but being early is always better than being late, right?

... Or was it the other way around? She can remember a few dates in which her date had been late....

She huffs quietly and wishes there was at least a mirror nearby, so she could check her hair and clothes. Her hair is down for once and she's made a very determined effort to follow Nishi's suggestions for nice clothing (cardigan, tank top, skirt, scarf, boots), so she's pretty sure what she's wearing constitutes 'chic casual'. Now she just has to hope Robin is impressed.]

Halfway up the stairs to the fourth floor, Euri realizes her spending time in Robin's room is becoming more and more commonplace. While she isn't exactly wild about that thought (his room still creeps her out), it's actually necessary today. He had told her something about needing to keep his power contained, which she didn't quite get, but if he really is that powerful then she'd prefer being cautious.

Euri stops in front of his door. She isn't all that scared of what Robin's true form is, as long as he doesn't look undead, but what if he decides to back out? What if he put more precautions in place and his room looks like some horrifying necromancer dungeon? Ugh, what if Michael is in there?

She twitches and shakes her head at that last one. Okay, now she's just being ridiculous. (Still, she can't help shooting at glare in the direction of Michael's room.) Whatever happens, she will suck it up and be brave like the awesomely tough bounty hunter that she is and deal with it. Especially if he looks undead! Robin definitely isn't the same as undead monsters, so she's got nothing to worry about. Plus, he has a heartbeat, so any changes would be purely cosmetic.

Who knows, maybe his actual form is incredibly attractive and she can't help but jump him and they have amazing sex right there on the floor....

Euri spends longer than necessary entertaining that thought before she finally comes back to reality and knocks on his door.

Here's something no one in Paradisa would ever expect to see: Euri, grinning from ear to ear, on the verge of skipping down the sidewalk in City Royale. It's a bizarre sight, made even stranger by the fact that she seems to be bleeding a bit from the side of her head, and there's a nasty red mark on her arm that's threatening to turn into a bruise.

Yup, it's as if she doesn't even notice.

She pauses at a corner and looks around - checking to see if she can spot a specific person - and when she doesn't see him she continues on, not even the least bit annoyed. Very un-Euri-like, but in her mind she has every right to be utterly ecstatic.

Because today, on this perfectly average summer day, she managed to cast her first curse.

It's a big deal to Witches, and especially so to her, as virtually all of them are able to do as around thirteen. Five years late is a long time, but she isn't thinking about that right now. All that's on her mind is that she isn't a complete failure as a Witch, and therefore, still has a chance of fitting in.

It's the best feeling in the world, and it's one she wants to share with more than just Dog. Unfortunately, there are few people in Paradisa she can even discuss this with, and even fewer who would approve of curse casting. So she's hunting down probably the only person who would be okay with it, even if he's sometimes not the easiest person to find. She's starting to debate summoning Dog, so he can do his whole bloodhound tracker thing....

Despite being utterly exhausted Euri could tell this entire situation was awkward. But, unfortunately, three nights of almost no sleep was drowning out her common sense, and it had no intention of stopping until she got a decent amount of rest. It was what had pushed her to climb out of bed, make her way up the stairs to the nearly empty fourth floor in her polka-dotted nightgown, and stop in front of Robin's room. She had resisted it in the beginning, of course, because she was stubborn. She didn't need anyone's help falling asleep, even Dog's. It was just a simple process that her stupid body would eventually pick up on; in addition, it would also realize that all those nightmares about ghosts and possessions and undead things weren't helping, and would cut them out.

It was three in the morning after three nights of sleeplessness when she finally gave up. She was so tired that embarrassment barely even crossed her mind. She simply stared down at the doorknob until her brain processed the fact that it was most likely locked, then continued along a rational path of unlocking it via hex. A few songlike words tumbled from her lips (not normally necessary, but she wasn't in the clearest state of mind), and she heard a tiny click that signaled the door was now hexed and completely unlockable until the spell was reversed. Knocking never occurred to her.

Euri stepped into the room. Even though it was dark just knowing the presence of all that scrawled writing on the walls made her shiver, and she was quick to dart on her toes to Robin's bed and crawl under the covers.
[identity profile] actionlaced.livejournal.com
((Continuing from this!))

[It was a good thing Robin was gone when Euri finally woke up. She had been cranky and hungover and once she remembered what had happened last night she was mortified. Not because they had shamelessly made, or because they nearly had sex, but because she had told him she was a virgin, and on top of that she had even let him into her room without bothering to hide all the witchy objects she owned.

She tried to focus on the latter as she ate breakfast in her room and nursed her hangover because, frankly, thinking about the teasing and comments and gossip from the former didn't seem nearly as bad as the reaction she was bound to get from the other castle residents about being a witch.

She pondered confronting Robin, but the mere thought was far too embarrassing. Besides, there was another memory stuck in her head from the previous night that refused to go away, and it was making her curious.

He had seen her room, but she remembered her inquiry into his own hadn't netted any results. Now that Euri was sober, "barely touched it" sounded like an obvious lie. That was why she eventually found her way to his floor, and to his room.

She was pretty sure Robin was out for the moment, and she had summoned Dog and ordered him to go have father-son bonding time with Nirel. So it was just her, a door, and whatever lay on the other side.

With a hardened expression she concentrated on the doorknob, letting it catch fire and heat up to the point where any and all locks would be rendered useless. She was just going to take a quick peek, nothing more, and then go back and stew over what he was undoubtedly telling the other residents.

When the doorknob cooled enough she used her scarf to open the door, and slipped inside.]
